T-Shirt Gallery

Zoic Studios Los Angeles Show (photos by Michael Kennedy)

On the opening night of this Zoic Studios show (February 3, 2005), eleven empty frames were placed on the wall. That night, Dan brought a pile of plain white t-shirts and chatted one-on-one with assorted people who attended the opening. He questioned them on what it was like to live and work in Los Angeles, hoping to get deeper insights into life inside Hollywood culture.

Following each conversation, Dan improvised a handwritten t-shirt inspired by the dialogue and gave it to the person. The person was then captured wearing the shirt by photographer Michael Kennedy. Michael immediately printed the images and up they went in frames on the wall. By the end of the night, all the frames were filled.
