On
the opening night of this Pigman Gallery show (October 7th,
2004), twelve empty frames were placed on the wall.
That night, Dan brought a pile of plain white t-shirts and chatted
one-on-one with assorted people who attended the opening. He
questioned them on their political beliefs, hoping to get at
opinions deeper
than just “Bush Sucks”.
Following each conversation, Dan improvised a handwritten
t-shirt inspired by the dialogue and gave it to the person.
The person
was then captured wearing the shirt by photographer Michael
Kennedy. Michael immediately printed the images, the
two artists signed
the works, and up they went in frames on the wall. By the end
of the night, all the frames were filled.
